Who we are.

Bultfontein is a family-owned Karoo farm, located between Beaufort West and Loxton, about 70 km from Beaufort West. The name “Bultfontein” comes from the Afrikaans words “bult” (hill) and “fontein” (fountain), reflecting the farm’s natural landscape of rolling hills and a natural spring.

What we do.

The farm is a working sheep operation, home to Merino sheep (for meat and wool), Meatmasters, and a herd of Bonsmara cattle. There is also a 1,000-hectare game camp, where you can encounter Sprinkbok, Eland, Gemsbok, Black Wildebeest, Sables ect.

The Setting.

The farm’s unique landscape is highlighted by its own mountain, the Harpuisberg, offering stunning views and a distinct Karoo experience.

Hendrik fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a Karoo farm with Bultfontein. Together with his son-in-law Lourens, who brings years of Karoo farming experience, they manage the farm’s daily operations, ensuring its success and growth.

Klaas has a deep connection to Bultfontein, having grown up on the farm. His knowledge of the land and livestock is invaluable. Jenere adds warmth and a friendly spirit, contributing to the farm’s hospitality and guest experience.

Alex & Jaylene Jafta

Alex was recently recognized in the Wes-Kaapse Prestige Landbou Awards for the Central Karoo district, celebrated for his potential and skills. He plays a key role in the farm’s success. Jaylene complements Alex with her strong hospitality and ensures visitors always feel welcome.
